We celebrate and empower the keepers of the world’s heritage and tradition—artisans who sustain culture through creativity.

More than 300 million artisans, most of them women, remain economically marginalized—largely excluded from the global creative economy.
We've built the free infrastructure to document, verify, and activate cultural knowledge—ensuring communities participate in and benefit from the value they create.

The Challenge

Cultural knowledge is disappearing at an accelerating rate due to urbanization, generational shifts, and economic pressure.

At the same time, this knowledge is increasingly being digitized and embedded into global systems—including artificial intelligence—often without representation, context, or benefit to the communities that created it.

Without the right infrastructure, this creates risks of misrepresentation, extraction without consent, and loss of cultural identity.

The Opportunity

Cultural knowledge is not a niche sector—it underpins a vast global economic system:

  • $740B–$900B in global artisan and handicraft markets
  • $360B–$398B in global luxury goods
  • $1.5T+ when including cultural tourism and heritage experiences

Yet there is no global infrastructure to document, verify, and responsibly activate this value.

What We’re Building

Artisanal Collective is building a unified system that connects cultural knowledge to economic opportunity.

This includes:

  • Digital Infrastructure (AEMS Platform) — to document, structure, and connect cultural knowledge to global systems
  • On-the-Ground Empowerment — to equip communities with the tools, training, and organization to participate
  • Cultural Knowledge Trust — to ensure governance, stewardship, and community benefit

A System, Not a Program

Artisanal Collective operates at the intersection of culture, technology, and economic development.

By integrating digital infrastructure with on-the-ground programs, we are building the foundation for cultural knowledge to participate in global systems—while ensuring communities retain recognition and benefit.

Why It Matters

Cultural knowledge represents identity, history, and creativity—but also economic potential.

With the right systems in place, it can become a powerful driver of inclusive economic development, cultural preservation, and global understanding.

Without them, it risks being lost, misrepresented, or extracted without benefit to the communities that sustain it.

Delivered Through Partnerships

Artisanal Collective works through a coalition of partners to deliver this system globally.

  • On-the-ground programs are delivered with UNESCO-accredited NGO Banglanatak, which has supported over 50,000 artisans in increasing incomes by an average of 20x over the past 25 years
  • Digital infrastructure is developed with SynovaX, a specialized IT and AI partner with over 30 years of experience

Be Part of the Story

Artisanal Collective unites artisans, consumers, corporate partners, and cultural advocates in a worldwide network that empowers and promotes sustainability, gender equity, and economic resilience.

Founded by a group of leaders from the development,  UN Agency, development bank, sustainability, and commercial sectors,  our mission is to ‘make the pie bigger’ — expanding the artisan economy so that all stakeholders, including artisans, investors, and consumers, thrive in a more sustainable world.

Closing Statement

This is not only about preserving culture.

It is about enabling those who sustain it to participate in and benefit from the global economy—on their own terms.
